4WD Courses

Nationally Accredited Basic 4WD

  • 8 hours
  • maximum number of participants per instructor and vehicle: 3
  • theory and practical
  • conducted at Mount Cotton Driver Training Complex (terms and conditions apply for hiring of this facility).
  • Statement of Attainment issued on successful completion of course
  • cost: $450 per person with minimum six participants (includes the Statement of Attainment issued by a Registered Training Organisation)

Please Note: Cost is calculated under the assumption that participants provide their own vehicles. Vehicles can be supplied at an additional cost.

Theory: conducted over three hours and covers all elements listed in the practical component.

Practical: operate 4WD vehicles on normal roads, on and or across slopes, ascending a steep slope including stall recovery, descending a steep slope including stall recovery, over rugged terrain, operate jack and complete operations

Non-Accredited Basic 4WD

Theory: Briefs are given in relation to all the elements listed in the practical component and conducted for every activity at the start and finish of each activity.

Practical: seating and posture, recovery equipment, recovery technique, practical winching, preparing for water, vehicle recovery, guiding and obstacle negotiation.
